Mini Marshian Stomp

It’s Easter Sunday for our next stomp. It’s been relatively dry lately and water levels are quite low, and it’s the bird nesting season. Hopefully this should make for a lovely couple of hours on the marsh.

We’ll meet by the bench along the footpath

We’ll spend a while chatting and looking at the life on the marsh. The winter birds, mostly the ducks, are going north and the summer visitors like Cuckoos and Swallows have returned. There has been a steady flow of rare and interesting birds lately and there’s a lot of bird song.

Once we’re done with that we’ll head out over the drier marsh nearer the road where we’re hoping to make a tree lined path.

Ok. It might not look like this for a while, but we have to start somewhere!

So there will be a few different activities, from simple marsh stomping, to planting willow whips, and bridge building and mud larking.

Our goal is to make a new path to enable circular walk around the outside of the marsh. We have three sides already but the missing link is what we’ll be working on.

This is the first section which we made last time we were out. It has dried out a bit since then but there’s plenty more mud further along!

You’ll definitely need wellies for the adventurous bit but the start of the path is dry and people without wellies will be able to do quite a bit without getting wet or muddy. There will be more fun if you do have wellies
