Hey Marshians.
Here’s some information in advance of the Marshian day out on Sunday.
It is especially important for those that haven’t been to one of our activities before.
BIO SECURITY. IMPORTANT.
Please clean your wellies before the weekend and let them dry. We don’t want to transfer anything to the marsh that shouldn’t be there.
We’re planting willow cuttings, which we hope will grow into fine trees.
You are all in the whatsapp group so ask questions there and check before you head out to make sure you know any last minute changes. It would also be helpful if you clicked the link in the event in the chat and let us know if you’re coming or not.
If you forward this to your friends (highly recommended) try and get them to join the group as there’s always stuff going on there beyond our marsh actions.
You need wellies, unless you like to suffer cold wet feet.
There will be a 15 minute* walk to the tree planting site, but we won’t be going back to the start unless you park at Fobney lock.
* I can do it in 15 minutes but it’s going to take longer as it’s such a nice walk and there’s lots to see and chat about!
There’s a normal start at 10am, but for those who want to be in an independently made film to talk about past activities and the importance of the marsh get there about 8:30.
There will also be a Marshian film maker recording stuff during the rest of the morning and if you don’t want to be filmed let him know. I’ll remind everyone before we start.
We could do with cardboard to help protect the willow from competition until it gets established. If you have any that has yet to be recycled bring it with you. Again check the whatsapp group because we may have a lot foraged the day before. We’ll update the group after we’ve tried to scrounge some.
Unfortunately this activity won’t be suitable for very small people. I’m disappointed about this and I promise we’ll be doing stuff just for the younger Marshians soon.
This is a bit less subversive than our previous actions as the landowner knows we’ll be there. It does still have an anarchic element so don’t think we’ve sold out.
